This year we have more hope and spirit to the Month of Ramadhan and finally being able to gather as a family with no restrictions during Raya. As per MOH announcement that has been shared millions of times, this year 2022 on 26th of April, we are no longer restricted to just 5 or 10 vaccinated people.
Like finally!! After 2 to 3 years of not being able to gather as a huge family and mengeratkan silaturahim as we do every Raya, this year surely shines better hope to a lot of people. Of course, with the easement of masks not needed to wear outdoors, we are still to be vigilant in sanitizing ourselves and making sure we have precautions set to protect ourselves and love ones from this Covid ( that felt as if it just never ends). Consideration for our neighbours are a must. Let us improve our mental and emotional health, after the many lockdowns, to learn of positivity and how we need to not only heal ourselves but to heal others who needs them the most from this.
So, with that being said.. POP-ups events this year has been sprouting like mushrooms! With the first to announce being Laloolalang by Huda Ali at Arab Street / Kampong Glam Walk Through Souq 2022. Initially there were supposed to be retail as well, however they have changed the concept with limiting to, and majority being, Food categories.
Wonderfoood range! If you did not go there yet, well, you should. But beware, at your own risk. Head over there before 3pm and you will have limited food-stalls open, BUT, there are not many people. After 4pm onwards till before berbuka, you will see hundreds of patrons and booths with long (which seems like never-ending) lines. Also, if you are just chilling, head over to masjid sultan to watch the lights.
One of the next well-known event that sprouted in the middle of Ramadhan is Twilight by Adi Media from 22-24 April 2022. Scouting for vendors during Ramadhan itself. Amazing support from Vendors in such a short period of time and they range from Food all the way to apparels. Well done guys!
Another traditionally Ramadhan one-month-long event Pop-up is at WGS (Wisma Geylang Serai) and TKC (Tanjong Katong Complex) all the way to Joo chiat complex and Kinex. WGS ramadhan event was planned quite well even though there were challenges. TKC pop up started during the Mid of Ramadhan. Both were organised by Orange. The One at Kinex is by MegaExpress.
Then, there are of course smaller events that are either on weekends or smaller areas. Two such places are as per below:
1. MIURA x RamadhanFestivalSg
Miura is situated at 381 Joo Chiat Road, S(427621) with both comnpanies organising weekend only event throughout Ramadhan. Media coverage by Berita Harian Nur Hazimah Anuar covered on 09 Apr 2022 11:04pm. Their last event ends on 22-24 Apr 2022. Fret not, there are different vendors every weekend.
At the same time, Ramadhan Festival SG ( a sister brand to WhiteVellum) organised weekend only pop-up during the month of Ramadhan at HAUS 217 .
2. MakBesar at Changi Airport T3
MakBesar has been running events at Changi Airport T3 B2 since last year and this year they have extended to include the space at Atrium near their retail store B2-18 (B2 beside Swensens #B2-31-32 ).
